Sunday Thoughts- Sunflowers

Our sunflowers seemed to have bloomed and be on their way to fading while we were gone for three weeks.  But they are still beautiful to me.  Seeing glory through them.  A glimpse.  Pointing me towards the one who made them.

Look around.

Where have you noticed God’s fingerprint in your world this past week?

Where have you been noticing him in scripture?

What do you want to talk with him about in your upcoming week?

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”  Isaiah 40:8

  1. I see God’s fingerprints most in my children. They are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” They have such sweet and loving hearts. When my son (4 1/2) makes up a song of praise about Jesus, I am reminded of our natural desire to praise our Creator. God pours so much love and grace into us, we can’t help but spill some back out and reflect his goodness to others.

Of course, our family is also a reflection of the original sin but God is so much bigger than our human failures. He reigns and His goodness overcomes the darkness.

I’ve noticed God’s fingerprints in the subtle turn our church is taking. We’ve been battling for the heart and soul of our ministry for several months now. The heart of our church wants to lead by grace and with mercy with a small opposing group longing to remain bound in legalism. It’s been more of a challenge than we ever thought. This week, however, it turned! There’s still a way to go, but His fingerprints are evident.

Have a blessed evening, my friend!

    • Stefanie- Thank you for sharing that. You and I are in a similar boat in walking with our spouses in ministry. praying for you!

  3. Isaiah 40:8 was the first Scripture verse I ever memorized as a little girl. It’s never left me! And to answer your last question…in the upcoming week, I’ll be needing to have LOTS of one on one chats with Him about helping me trust Him more and that HE is in control. Please remind me of this as I wave good bye to Alayna next Wednesday on the school bus for the first time. And I’ll pray for both of us that our eyes don’t sweat too much.

I love knowing that was your first verse to memorize!
Glad we are in this kindergarten journey together and that our kids are in the same class 🙂

  4. This has been a very hard month and even last week was hard. I have asked God many things and even waited as he calmed my heart. Wonderful blog ~ welcome to the community.

    • Thank you for the welcome Sharon! Sorry that the last month has been hard. Praying as I type for God’s comfort to be known. I’m heading to read your blog now.
