Weekend Reflection- Rejoice, Blossom, Burst and Bloom

The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
Isaiah 35:1-2(a)

Be glad. Rejoice. Blossom. Burst. Bloom. Shout.

Don’t these action verbs paint such a vivid picture?

And not the things we would expect to bloom and shout.

The desert, the parched land and the wilderness. We would expect them to be words of barrenness. Of thirst. Of lost-ness.

But no. These are the very places. The places in our lives. The states of our soul at times. These are the places that will blossom and rejoice!!

A couple of weeks ago I shared the last verses of Isaiah 35. This week the first few verses. And in the weeks in between God has kept me in the verses in between. Reminding me again why this passage is indeed my place of vision.

    Perfect pairing with this scripture. And those blooms that burst in the barren–they’re the most beautiful.

  5. I loved that you shared this passage today. My Pastor often says, “somethings only grow in the wilderness”. I am learning to see my lack, my barrenness as blessings! The picture is beautiful!

  6. I sneak up on your site a bit… from Jumping Tandem and Freshly Brewed… I always love what I see!
