Wintery Days of Spring

DSC_0946-001

“You set all the boundaries of the earth.

You made both summer and winter.”

Psalm 74:17

It keeps falling. Each day a few more flakes.

“It’s March!”, I call out.

It keeps falling.

He whispers. He reminds. “I’ve got it covered.” (I think he means more than just covering the ground with snow.)

His word affirms. Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Winters will end. He’s made them both.

I want to rush through the winter seasons of my life. Of trials and heartache and death.

But when I slow down, when I remember, I know there is beauty here too.

And I know that as my capacity expands to endure, so does my delight in the spring that will come.

Happy (waiting on) Spring!

PS I had my first ever giveaway this past week. Don’t worry if you missed it, because I decided to have one per week until Spring arrives in Western PA. And by tomorrows weather forecast, we will be waiting a while longer!

Thanks for these lovely words! Such a challenge sometimes to Be Still and know

  4. I was feeling pretty low this morning. If i explained why, it would seem unrelated to most of your post, but God has this beautiful way of speaking to my heart what it needs most to hear, and this morning he took a nugget of your post and put it in the center of a magnifying glass so I’d be sure to see it.

    Beautiful….. beautiful. Thank you.

  6. How encouraging! I too want to rush through my winter seasons, but truly those are the seasons where I learn the most, as I lean in closer and learn to wait on the Lord.

    Beautiful reminder! Thank you!

  8. The line you wrote right here, “And I know that as my capacity expands to endure, so does my delight in the spring that will come.” – that just zinged me. I want to enjoy the winters for what they do to prepare me for the bounty of the springtimes. I loved this post, Melanie!
