Not an Engineer’s Wife

incouragers

We sit at the tables in Wesley Hall. Twelve women gathered around the table, studying the fruit of the Spirit. Someone is talking about a scripture, trying to remember what book of the bible it is found in. Eyes turn towards me. They joke, “you are the pastor’s wife, you must know the answer!” I respond saying “When Rob was an engineer nobody asked me to answer job related questions!”

I say it tongue in cheek. And I say it with honor. It is true when he was an engineer my opinion on air flow and vectors and how airplanes fly wasn’t typically sought.

Being married to someone in ministry is…well, it is different. Co-workers are a vital part of our community. We see people day and night and weekends that are connected to his ‘job’. We are doing life together. All of it.

It can be messy. It can be beautiful. I wouldn’t trade it. I wouldn’t trade seeing my husband living out his calling. I wouldn’t trade being front row to transformation. I wouldn’t trade all the faces that flash through my mind when I think of twelve years of ministry together.

With all of that in mind, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be co-leading (in)Couraged Flock. It is a safe place for ministry wives to gather, online. To share, to pray, to encourage. To know you are not alone in the road you are traveling.

I am even more excited that I am co-leading with Becky Daye. I met Becky a year ago at Allume (an annual blogging/social media conference.) We connected more deeply this past year via the (in)couraged Flock facebook group. She has an amazingly big heart. I love reading her writings. Encouragement flows from her words and actions. She blogs at Daye by Daye

Together we are anticipating the ways God will lead this group. Watching the ways his abundance will flow. Ready to experience the God of all comfort, offering refreshment and renewal through those who gather in his name.
