Vulnerability and Beauty {Day 1}

He holds on to the edge of the boat railing. Anticipating. In awe.

The power of the waterfall is overwhelming. The mist covers us.

And his small hand, bravely steadying him as he faces the power.  Both enthralled and cautious.

That hand is beauty to me.

That hand symbolizes vulnerability. Opening ourselves to experience more, even when we are afraid.

He says I am all in. I am heading into this waterfall that is too much for me. But it will be worth it.

Vulnerability that usher us into moments of awe. To water that is loud and rushing and will not allow you to escape its notice. To water that makes you realize how small you are and at the same time protected.

Vulnerability, intertwined with the idea of beauty.

“Vulnerability is not knowing victory or defeat, it’s understanding the necessity of both; it’s engaging. It’s being all in.”  Brene Brown

Being all in. The unknown and fears and all.

When we see someone displaying that type of courage, our souls stir. We know. This is beauty.

And when I’m in its presence, in response I want to offer beauty to my world too.

How hard is it for you to be vulnerable? To open your hopes to others?

When you have, how have you experienced beauty?
