Goal Setting and the Spirit

DSC_0780

I’m sitting at Starbucks. A gift of time from my in-laws. I have my journal and plans and goals. As I flip through my journal, an entry from a few weeks ago jumps out. Just one verse written in letters large enough to fill the page:

“After beginning with the Spirit are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort” Galatians 3:3

I remember writing it, but not spending much time reflecting on it. Perhaps it was written just for today.

New Years. Goals. Hopes.

I breathe easier knowing I’m not alone.

I shift a bit in my thoughts. Focusing on the ways I can invite the Spirit in to more of my day. To more of my choices.

To surrender daily to his leading. To his wisdom. To his strength.

To let my plans slip from my hands to his.

To remember that with him there is abundance and life.

There is no one who knows better the best for my life. No one who wants me to live in freedom more than he does.

My hopes in motherhood. My delight as a wife. My calling as one who writes. My desire to love others well.

All of that. Wrapped up in him.

In my own human effort I achieve only a shadow of what can be with him.

Immanuel. God is with us.

Resting in this as we head into 2014.

This is a “keeper”. I needed this today…. the second day of this new year. I will need it each day. ” To surrender daily to his leading. To his wisdom. To his strength.” This is the key, so simply spoken. Thank you for your Godly wisdom and loving perspective.

  3. Rich blessings of peace as He leads your steps.
