Hope {Advent Day 12}

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Hebrews 6:19

Hope.

It is one of my words. One I have clung to. One that has been a small ray of light when all that surrounds me is darkness. And that small ray is more than enough to conquer the dark.

Hope is strong. Courageous. Staring down the giants.

It is not some mushy word. Nor a pie in the sky wishing something will happen.

Hope. My substantive stake in my ever-changing circumstances.

I saw this painted rock in my son’s room today. He has a couple, given to him by friends. They sit on his little desk. His place for homework and all kinds of collections. I’m learning my son is a collector. A remember-er. (umm, that means one who likes to remember the significance of an item or picture.)

Today while he was reviewing spelling words, it drew my attention. I had been wondering, how do you capture hope with a picture?

Hope. A paperweight. An anchor. A rock.

Hope. Our strength. Our security. Our assurance.

“and hope does not disappoint”

Trusting with you all this Advent, in the coming of one who was promised. Taking hold of the hope set before us. Our high priest is coming. And in Him we will rest secure.
